Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concern in America. Over 40 million adults in the U.S. have an anxiety disorder. That is almost 1 in 5 people. Over the past several years, the problem has only been exasperated by the COVID pandemic and ongoing political tensions. The good news is that anxiety disorders are treatable, and recovery is achievable and sustainable. I am here to help, not judge you. Give me a call and let's start discussing the problem and some solutions.

Severe anxiety and panic can be dreadful
But you don't have to keep suffering
We provide an individualized and integrated treatment approach. Each recovery journey is unique. What works best for one person may not work as well for another. I can help you decide which primary treatment options to begin with and provide education and access to a whole host of supplemental methods and strategies. We will help identify and examine the types of thinking and fearful self-talk that continue to fuel your unhealthy and extremely unpleasant anxiety. We will teach you the medical aspects of anxiety disorders so you can better understand why you continue to feel so anxious. A discussion on the front-line medications used to treat anxiety disorders will be provided, along with help to decide if that is a good option for you. If you choose medication, you can use your own doctor, or we can refer you to prescribers that have been working with our clients for years. We are here to support your efforts each step of the way.

"In my teens and twenties, I used the sedating effects of alcohol to self-medicate anxious feelings. In 1990, I made the decision to stop drinking. And sure enough, within several years the anxious feelings increased, eventually turning to panic and agoraphobia. I started treating this unhealthy anxiety around 2000. The journey led me down many paths: meditation, guided relaxation, exercise, cognitive and exposure therapies, medications, and more. Over the last several decades, I have had the opportunity to help many others with their unhealthy anxiety and substance misuse problems by sharing these methods and techniques."

The Art of Struggle Reduction
"Peace is a natural state, and when the mind is settled, peace exists. So, what causes the mind to become unsettled? Many forms of negative thinking and self-talk, irrational thoughts, worry, fear, obsessive guilt and shame, envy and jealously—simply put, it is our own internal struggle that kidnaps our minds from the awareness of peace. So, the question is not how one finds peace, but instead, how does one reduce struggle. I help clients increase the awareness of peace in their lives by decreasing the struggle that creates anxiety and stress. I call this The Art of Struggle Reduction." |
Guided Relaxation
Counselors and therapists have been recommending various forms of guided relaxation, hypnotherapy, progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), and meditation for many years. It is well known that practicing this type of deep relaxation has emotional and physical benefits. Bringing your body into a deep state of calm on a regular basis helps reduce anxiety, manage stress, and reduce feelings of being overwhelmed. Can also be used to induce sleep. Through our partnership with Recovery Productions, you will have access to various clinically effective guided relaxation audio streams.
What others are saying about these guided relaxations
"Cured a migraine better than medication." I felt a migraine coming on and laid down with an ice pack, eye mask, and zoned out to this cd. The migraine then dissipated throughout the day instead of turning evil on me. FOUR STARS. I also use it for insomnia. I have many other relaxation CDs, this hypnosis one works the best. Thank you, Tom Diffenderfer. Review on amazon.com for the album PMR, Hypnotherapy, and Acoustic Guitar.

"5 out of 5 stars Amazing help with Chemo anxiety!!! " Follow Up: I have someone who is undergoing Chemo and is suffering from severe anxiety. He asked me if I still had one of those meditation recordings that we had used years ago. He has been using it every day since. He had tried everything available from Xanax, nausea meds, and smoking materials and nothing had helped. He is using these meditation recordings 2 times a day and it has been incredible. He is no longer using medication or anything else. The mind is very powerful, even with Chemo. This really works.
